The world's cotton looks to China for cotton, and China looks to Xinjiang. Xinjiang's cotton output grew from just 5,000 tonnes in 1949 to 5.69 million tonnes in 2024, accounted for 92.3% of the national total in 2024. The mechanization rate in plowing, planting, and harvesting has reached 97% in Xinjiang.
